Bible Comedy

This is pretty funny. My favorite part is when he describes how the first man and woman were made.

I am not one for celebrity worship, but I would LOVE to meet Ricky Gervais. I think he is one of the most clever and witty writers/performers currently on the scene - and a proud atheist! There is an excellent episode concerning religion in his newest series, 'Extras'.

Thank you for the funny video, Delta. I've never heard of this guy before. I wonder if there is a way to find his entire concert... :-)

alan,

I haven't seen much of his stuff, but I'll have to look into it. And I'll try to download that episode of Extras if I can find it. Thanks for posting!

sh,

I'm not sure what standup routine this was lifted from, although I know that you can download some of them online via torrents. If I find it, I'll certainly let you know.

That's the first Gervais stand-up I ever saw and it kept me hooked to view everything the man has ever done. Eden is a commonplace joke and cartoon setting, but Gervais' barb cuts way deeper philosophically.
There's a cool comic page with a similar slant available at http://www.paradisemisplaced.si/, but it's a bit more hermetic.
Crumb has also done a cartoon bible, but it's a diffenent parody altogether, without a word altered.
