Way to go! I liked your arguments and the way you steered clear of the usual pitfalls and word-traps. It's an uphill battle when people have a false idea of what a word or concept really means. You climbed and surmounted that hill, whether the message was interpreted correctly remains to be seen. :-\

According to the new testament, jesus should have given you that bicycle...

Thanks! I had thought about letting you know about the debate, but I didn't want it to become a war to see how many supporters one could gather and decided to simply handle it myself. I think one of the biggest critiques about communism is that people have no idea about what it is actually about. I liked your comment also btw =)

Which comment? I saw a few other people in that debate that knew what was going on. I also found it disconcerting to meet so many people that are unashamedly selfish. I know they got their ideas from Ayn Rands "The Virtue of Selfishness", which is just plain crap. I don't know how people can read her books without vomiting. She's like Ann Coulter with a philosophy major. (Not to demean phil majors here). The most repulsive and frustrating aspect of their selfishness is that they are either unable or unwilling to look into game theory, which I think demonstrates very clearly that always looking out for #1 is actually detrimental to the long-term happiness and survivability of the individual (and the group).
Oh, sorry, that was confusing. I meant I liked your quote by Peter O'Toole =)
And I agree about the selfish thing. I think being selfish comes naturally to many people, but people don't realize that being selfish actually involves some sort of caring for others.
